Ateliers Dinand is a company creating perfume design.
For several decades the Ateliers Dinand have been associated with the spirit of avant-garde which renewed the repertory of the forms and materials bottle manufacture.
To the traditional puffed up crystal bottles of the 19th century, which distinguished to each other by famous “labels”, were to succeed, during first half of the 20th century, bottles out of glass industrially pressed and moulded.
Ateliers Dinand was founded by Pierre Dinand forty years ago. In the beginning, he worked for ROCHAS with the perfume MADAME, then with ARMANI (his first perfume), from then on the Ateliers Dinand have grown and developped design of more than 1000 perfume and cosmetic lines.
The company is now under the artistic direction of Pascal Derussit, working for Ateliers Dinand for more than 25 years.
The company is now working with many of the major perfume brands. Nowadays the design of the packaging of the perfume is no more linked with the creation of the fragrance itself (the ‘”Juice”!). The congruency between fragrance and flask must be organized by the brand itself.
Ateliers Dinand creates a design according to a “brief”, it is to describe how the brand see the flask according to marketing considerations like, which kind of products, premium or mass market, gender, age, and of course the image of the fragrance, Feminity, casual, light, sensual,… It can happen that the “brief “ is a song or a film, which are better to transcript the emotions associated to the fragrance. Ateliers Dinand transform these emotions into shapes and packaging.
All the Art of Ateliers Dinand is not to create a message but the translate message of the brand into shapes and packaging.
The aim of the design is not only to create a beautiful object easy to use, but also to retranscript in the shapes the imaginary of a brand and the spirit of the fragrance.
