Kathryn Scott is American living and working between New York and Shanghai. She is an award winning, internationally recognized interior designer. She has studied both in Dallas, Texas and Rome, Italy, she also attended classes at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design in New York and has received several awards for her paintings.
Before devoting herself to interior design, Kathryn pursued a career as a painter. She also designed and copyrighted China patterns, including twelve Faberge egg designs, which are sold in fine stores and catalogues worldwide. Her interior design career began with the well-respected interior design firm of Vignelli Associates, in New York. She then worked with several other New York design firms before starting her own company.
Her style is to create beautiful, elegant and comfortable homes and residence for a diverse and international clientele ranging from the president of Tatarstan in Russia to prominent lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs and CEO’s in the northeastern United States, Florida and now Shanghai. She had exposure to very different kind of design like corporate offices, retail stores, private yachts, Synagogues, cottages in the woods and ocean front estates. She designs furniture too.
An associate member of the American Society of Interior designers, Kathryn has been published in several magazines in America, Korea and China. She has received four awards from The Homebook Design Excellence as well as receiving the Home of the Year award from Metropolitan Home Magazine.
Kathryn is looking to create a home as the portrait of its clients, combining a mixture of styles representing the clients’ lifestyle, personal history and taste. Each job is unique and challenging for this reason. She feels important to maintain simplicity, elegance and high quality of detail in her work.
Kathryn specializes in attention to detail, her style can be called classical as she keeps in mind the harmonious rules of proportion, integrating beautiful materials and uncommon ways of combining them together to arrive at a timeless end result. Paying attention to details from the inception of the project creates the cohesive balance within the interior.
