Thelema Shiraz

In July 1983, the McLean Family Trust bought the old Thelema fruit farm, situated on the top of the Helshoogte Pass outside of Stellenbosch, South Africa. The search for the perfect location had been a long one, but finally they were closer to their goal: to make exceptional wines.

Katnook Estate Shiraz “prodigy”

Prodigy Shiraz is one of Katnook Estate’s most iconic wines. Prodigy was first produced in 1997 using young vines. The wine won Australia’s coveted Jimmy Watson trophy.

Winemaker Wayne Stehbens says “Although Coonawarra’s reputation as the ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon is well known, it also produces world class Shiraz”.

The nose is opulent, with notes of dark berries, coffee beans and liquorice. The wine has an extremely elegant taste and is well structured with real potential to age!
